Kathleen “Kat” Thompson is a Northeast Florida fine artist whose passion for creativity is reflected in her expressive watercolors, mixed-media paintings, and experimental printmaking. A graduate of Florida State College at Jacksonville, where she earned her Fine Arts degree with high honors, Kat brings a strong foundation in traditional artistic principles to an adventurous, contemporary approach. Her work often celebrates the beauty of everyday moments, from the historic streets of St. Augustine to the quiet personalities of animals and the unexpected patterns found in nature.
Working primarily with water-based media, Kat embraces the spontaneous interaction of pigment, water, texture, and light. Her distinctive style balances thoughtful composition and confident drawing with loose, expressive washes, allowing the materials to contribute their own character to each piece. Her artistic exploration extends beyond traditional watercolor to include cyanotypes, monoprinting, acrylics, and layered mixed-media techniques. Whether creating atmospheric cityscapes, evocative animal portraits, or abstract compositions, she strives to capture the essence of a subject without sacrificing the freshness and energy of the creative process.
